I believe this is a member of the Boletus Porosporus family or is closely related - certainly would not fancy eating this mushroom whether or not it is edible - but I thought it looked a lot like a watercolour by Arthur Ransome and at any moment some mythical creature will pop its head round the stem. I love the earthy browns and the texture - definitely not a toadstool
After 30 years of taking photos for pleasure, I started taking photos for magazine reproduction a few years ago. As a long term editor and having run a couple of small publishing and design businesses (involving commissioning photos), I tend to take the sort of photos that I used to buy - ranging from the odd and quirky to the semi-abstract and texture photos that make an effective magazine cover.
